From the start of March 2026, Flurin Leugger will be joining our team in Reinach. Even as a small child, he loved roaming through the countryside, searching for and observing animals. Birds, in particular, never ceased to fascinate him. He longed to be able to capture these fleeting moments. So, when he bought his first camera, he began to gradually evolve from a birdwatcher into a nature photographer – with the aim of inspiring others to appreciate nature too (website: flurinleugger.ch). However, he soon realised that photographs alone are not enough to protect nature. To gain a better understanding of the environment and play an active role in nature conservation himself, he studied environmental sciences. During this time, thanks to his knowledge of birds, he was already able to carry out breeding bird surveys, including for us. Following his PhD at ETH Zurich in the field of biodiversity monitoring using environmental DNA, he is very much looking forward to his new role at Hintermann & Weber AG. Now he can finally put his knowledge to professional use in various nature conservation projects.

We look forward to working with Flurin and warmly welcome him to the team!
